Alliances

Wilsoncoxistan bases its policy on the advice of George Washington and does not forge permanent "entangling" alliances. Temporary alliances may be necessary in an uncertain world, however permanent ones can increase uncertainty by exposing the country to risk of armed conflict. Permanent alliances also create dependencies among member nations that result in resentment. While they prevent attack, they also create moral hazard by tipping the balance of military power so member countries may be more aggressive to outsiders. We also don't form trade alliances because we wish to trade with everybody. Trade interdependence is the best diplomacy for promoting peace and freedom.
