Military
The WDF have the mission of defending Wilsoncoxistan from foreign invasion. Since Wilsoncoxistan occupies the land formerly known as the USA, it is relatively safe from invading armies. This negates the need for a giant standing military. The standing army is limited to 0.1% of total population. This prevents the military from having substantial influence on society, while retaining seasoned veterans to train recruits should an invasion occur. It also keeps costs down as military forces are value consumers rather than producers. As a defense force, the army will consist primarily of citizen soldier reservists with at least a basic level of military organization and skill. International military activity will be limited to naval warfare groups with marine landing forces that will serve to protect vital sea trade routes and internationally important infrastructure. It is not a world policeman and cannot prevent atrocities in far away lands. Supporting 800 or so bases around the world is an unsustainable military policy.
